Superyacht of the Month: Nirvana by Oceanco

By Timmy | December 3, 2012

NirvanaThe sleek Nirvana was recently unwrapped during the Monaco Yacht Show earlier this month. She was delivered to the owner last summer and enjoyed the waves of the Mediterranean before displaying her curves in Monaco.

The Nirvana tips the meter at 88.5m making her the largest in the superyachts created by the Dutch manufacturer Oceanco. This puts her in line with great yachts like the Seven Seas, Sunrays, and Alfa Nero.

The design of the Nirvana was done by Sam Sorgiovanni to satisfy the requirements of her owner. She combines big interiors with expansive deck spaces using contemporary design lines. The Nirvana features six decks and a 150-square meter master suite.

The exterior of the Nirvana makes use of smooth lines that are well-balanced and are gently curved. From bow to stern, it is an eye candy dominated by white, mahogany, and navy blue themes. She has that modern look while retaining a very refined stature. When one gets onboard, you will be welcomed by a very large aft deck with a counterflow pool. There is also the aft sun pads.

The main salon of the Nirvana has a dining room and a spacious lounge area. Separating the two areas is a vivarium that serves as home to some exotic reptiles.

The superyacht has enough accommodations for 12 guests. Each room is fitted with elegant and delicate elements to ensure comfort and pleasure while on a cruise. The designer made use of natural light and nature-inspired themes for all of the rooms. The main deck also has a massage room for the guests.

The deck of the owner can be transformed and isolated if supreme privacy is needed. The fore suite has a lounge room with a long corridor that leads to a massage room, walk-in wardrobes, bathrooms, a stateroom, and a private lounge. It is a lush complex with a very gentle ambiance.

The list of amenities can go on and on in all directions for the Nirvana superyacht.

Yacht Spotlight: Mondo Marine 45m

By Timmy | July 3, 2012

MONDO-45MIf you want to go an adventure aboard an Italian yacht is just like saying you want to catch the biggest crocs while wearing your suede moccasins by Ferragamo. The Mondo Marine 45m is actually more of a hunting boot and has the seaworthiness and capabilities to go on expeditinos. It blends brute power with high style very well.

The design of the Mondo Marine 45m derives DNA from the usual expedition vessels. The high bow is there to cut thru rough seas and avoid water from washing over the yacht’s decks. It also has expedition boats aboard to make sure that getting to diving bells or rolling out submersibles will not be a hassle. The plunging sheer of this yacht gives it its aggressive looks, makes it less look bulky, and allows easy entrance and exit for the crew and passengers.

The design team can be commended for combining function and art in producing the Mondo Marine 45m. The square windows allow light to come in to cabin and their shapes group to become a parallelogram, blending well with the overall look of the yacht. Inside, the surfaces are dominated by glass and gives the passengers a great view of the waters.

The superstructure of the Mondo Marine 45m gets shorter and gets narrower from its main deck to its sky lounge. This decreases the visual bulk and the weight aloft. The overhangs of the different levels are maximized to shelter the lower levels while also helping in reducing the visual harshness of the vertical structure. Change the design lines on this portion of the yacht and you will have a clunky looking ride

The sky lounge has a wind deflector that protects its forward section. This detail also add to the harmony of the whole design. The upper decks feature two staircases that lead occupants to the bridge deck from the sky lounge and to its main deck from the bridge deck.

Indeed, the Mondo Marine 45m is a very handsome ride. Although it might not look as conventional as you imagine, it has all features to function as an expedition yacht.

Superyacht Spotlight: The Azimut Grande 120SL

By Timmy | April 25, 2012

Azimut Yachts officially unwrapped the Grande 120SL during the Cannes Boat Show last year. The Grande 120SL is just about 36 meters and is the flagship boat of the fleet at present. The superyacht is also a great example of Italian yacht designs with Stefano Righini doing the exterior and Carlo Galeazzi handling the interior. The 120SL is a dream project which combines performance and comfort.

The Azimut Grande 120SL looks very sportive and edgy. The design lines are curvy and very sleek which gives you an image of speed and comfort finished in gold and white. The two engines come from Rolls-Royce plus a central booster, and this set up gets the boat to 36 knots on top speed. The boat is a a good blend of balancing and combining contrasts of elements that are both modern and classic. The materials are nothing but luxurious with Zebrano wood in conjunction with leather, glass, and steel.

The saloon of the 120SL is an excellent example of Italian design. The inside is dominated by gold, cream, and white palette. The furniture items are smooth, large, and soft with a good symmetrical setup.

A great element of the design is the skylight which allows the inflow of light which gives a classic finesse touch to the boat’s design. The bar area is also accessible from the main saloon and the aft deck which somehow removes the boundaries between the exterior and inferior.

The Azimut 120SL has 4 cabins for guests configured in two twins and two doubles. The suite of the owner measures 43 sq. meters which has an interior design like that of the saloon’s but with a more contemporary touch. The grand windows offer a great view of the waters and the outside.

The 120SL successfully blends excellent performance technology and luxury comforts to allow owners and guests to enjoy the sea sans the restrictions.

ADMShipyards unwraps Yas

By Timmy | December 15, 2011

Yas-1ADMShipyards recently launched Yas, a megayacht that has been known during development as Swift141. This yacht is expected to hit 26 knots while its name is for its LOA of 141 meters.

The Yas is actually a yacht conversion that took several years to complete. You can trace the roots of this megayacht back in 1998 from the 130-meter UAE Navy frigate acquired from the Dutch Royal Navy. After a few years of service , it was replaced with new ships but they were not scrapped since they were still structurally sound. The refit was ordered in 2007 by an owner in the Gulf who decided to use the hull of the ship for a speedy superyacht.

ADMShipyards initiated the conversion of Swift 141 or Yas in the same year. They commissioned Pierrejean Design Studio to give the boat a facelift . The Yas got a longer length but still had a sleek and lean hull plus its shape below water gave way for impressive speeds.

The Yas stands out from the rest because of its curves and a good dose of glasses implemented by the design team.

The superyacht can accommodate sixty people. It also has a tender garage for whatever toy you want to bring with you but the space also doubles as a swim platform. There is also the alfresco spa and swimming pool nearby. The crew will also have access to modern day equipment to aid navigation.

Dream Yacht: SL39 Go by Feadship

By F. Long | July 4, 2010

Feadship recently unwrapped in Monaco the third installment of their SL39 models baptized as Go.

The Go is another custom superyacht just like its SL39 predecessors, the Ocean Mercury and the Kathleen Anne. The architects of De Voogt Naval are responsible for the Feadship signature exterior design lines. The team of FPA Architects handled the interiors.

The interiors play with classy colors, fabrics, and textures to complete the luxurious looks. The designers used teak to give the main salon and dining room a natural feel. Fabric from Dominique Kieffer was used for the main salon’s sofa. The sofa can be easily turned so everyone can enjoy some entertainment courtesy of the 46-inch plasma TV on the china cabinet.

The dining room gets a black table made from oak as its certain piece. The best of the best look is competed by the satin back glass for the sliding doors and the silver linen carpet.

The bridge deck and the aft deck are the best places where guests can hang out. The blending of colors from one area to the other is perfect with the natural finish of the walls and floors. These are spacious areas where one can enjoy the view while enjoying some drinks at the big bar in the center.

The sundeck comes with sun loungers, chairs, and some breakfast tables. Under the mast of the radar, guests can relax in the large Jacuzzi or sunbathe on the sun mattresses flanking it.

Go has a superstructure made of aluminum and truly a world cruiser having a top speed of 14 knots. It is powered by 12V200 twin M70 diesel engines with 4000 nautical mile range at ten knots.

This superyacht has a tag price of €27.500.000 and is also available for charter.

Pershing 115′ Silver Streak Cruiser

By Timmy | April 17, 2009

I’m a Pershing fan. Every single yacht they produce just looks like it’s ready to do some speeding, without ever letting you feel like you have to give in to any kind of luxury you’re used to on the shore. The most extravagant Pershings are so decadent it’ll make the world’s richest boat-lovers slightly aroused.

Pershing 115 Yacht

I’m not a rich boat-lover, but I’m very, very aroused when I see these breathtaking photos of Pershings latest Pershing 115′ Silver Streak…

Pershing 115 Exterior Yacht

As always, Pershing has equipped this jaw-dropping dream yacht with a spacious and light interior. Both the captain (and his crew) as the passengers can enjoy any trip in full luxury. Proof below:
